The profile of science in your school can be raised by a speech in assembly. This one considers viewpoints for and against human cloning. The aim is to make pupils more aware of their need for scientific understanding in the world outside school. You could time the assembly to coincide with classes studying genetic engineering and surrounding issues, and plan a debate to follow up the assembly.

This speech is written with a Headteacher or Head of Year in mind. Assemblies for later CDROMs could be written for pupils, if you would prefer. Please let us know.

CLONING ASSEMBLY

Drama is a very popular way of stimulating interest in science. Play scripts and suggestions for using role-plays in science lessons are provided in the Drama section of this CDROM.
