UNDER DEVELOPMENT

Modelling is a generic tool which is powerful yet easy to master. For a given concept pupils decide which are the important variables, and map the relationships between them. This process illustrates their level of understanding, allowing you to provide the level of support that they need. To get you going there are some pre-set modelling simulations ready for use.

For example:

  • key variables affecting the affect on rate of photosynthesis are altered and the output is clearly displayed
  • contraction of a muscle is altered and the change in contraction of its' antagonistic partner is modelled

Since the Modelling tool allows pupils to build a model for any context, this resource can be used across the curriculum. As this CDROM goes to print the programme is under development. Once completed, the resource will be available to download from the Science Year and ASE websites www.scienceyear.com and www.ase.org.uk
It will also be available on a future CDROM.
